Be A Friend? Poem by Julia West (julesx 64)

Be A Friend?

I met a lady at work today,
Who showed me how to stand tall and not shy away.

The future is mine for the making,
And with effort, Happiness will be there for the taking.

First things first - I will have to see,
How someone like ME - should start liking ME!

Which I must admit will be something very New,
And will need to be worked on, I can tell you! ! !

That my moods and decisions, do not ever need permission!
My house will become more my home, less of a prison.

That my place is my sanctuary, and not a place to be fearing at,
Where friends are very welcome - not verbally abused or jeered at.

I can be me! And not criticised,
The new person I will be, can be fully utilised.

Moulded and honed, by experiences new and past,
Building firm - with less depression - hopefully - at long last.

Music or tranquility, will fill this new space that is becoming strong,
There will be no time limits - I dont care how long.

Be a friend - and you will see,
The butterfly struggling inside this cocoon - is REALLY ME! ! !
