Awake In Christ Poem by Michael P. Johnson

Awake In Christ

Rating: 3.5

For gain, the world seeks far and wide
To lust, she’ll give her time
Her children travel round in pride
Indulging every crime

Believing death’s an end to all
Believing God a lie
It matters not how deep they fall
They’re not afraid to die

To them! Christ’s church is out of date
It’s there but to deceive
Now each determines self their fate
Until this life we leave

As sure as Jesus walked the earth
As sure as birds can fly
So sure are we with second birth
In Christ we’ll never die

Our flesh may waste, may see decay
Our bones may turn to dust
But God has shown on glory day –1Th.4: 15-17
We’ll rise through Him we trust –1Pe.2: 6+Tit.3: 5-7

History of Peter has to tell
His fate, he had in view –Jn.21: 18
But faith he knew he’d see no hell –Mt.17: 1-9
If he’d remain Christ true –Lk.22: 31-33

Paul could have live, if he’d deny –Ac.5: 41
The name he had adored –Ac.9: 15-16
But unafraid, he chose to die –Php.1: 21-30
Still praising Christ his Lord –2Co.11: 16-33

So many servants died this way –2Ti.1: 10-12
In hope of life above -1Co.15: 12-26
They knew for but a while they’d lay
Then wake to Him they love –Rev.22: 17…
