Awaiting Poem by Gabriella Hart

Awaiting

I hid away from the terrible truth,
The truth that was never to be told.
Of the girl who waited in the darkness,
in the nightmares and the cold.

The secrets were sealed away,
locked up inside the halls.
I wandered day and night for it,
but found nothing at all.

Untill I found the door that was locked,
cold, wooden and stuck tight.
I pushed so hard against the wood,
but my poor aching bones could no longer fight.

Untill the handle suddenly turned,
I walked slowly in,
Delighted at first but then it changed,
as my happiness was wearing thin.

I saw the photo's of my mum,
my dad what a wonderful sight.
But the shadow in the background,
gave me a shiver of a fright.

So dark and in gloom,
but features so easy to see,
The moon lit up the face.
The face, that i suddenly realised was me.

How could i do this to my mum and dad.
They must have suffered great pain.
And now i must go to appologise,
will i ever see them again?
