Autumns Debut Poem by c.a. sherman

Autumns Debut

Summer is leaving
albeit, quietly.
It’s subtly bowing it’s tasseled stalks of corn
whispering excitedly,
in Falls debut.

The sky is still blue,
but tinged with a golden halo,
It caresses each leaf and leaves them
magically alight.
Tomorrow the weeping willow leaves will be aflame
in yellows yet unnamed...
The they’ll be gone.
Perhaps I’m just a martyr
feeling this sadness,
grasping each melancholy breath,
and watching this viable piece of time
slip through my fingers.
I ache in knowing that another summer is but a photo album
though I long to let autumns mellow magic
seep through my skin and calm me down.

Please hold me;
Let your heartbeat match mine...
let their cadence mesh in a delicate melody.
Don’t say forever, always, eternally...
I’m watching time roll quickly over your shoulder.
Just let you breath caress my neck,
and watch the leaves dip gracefully from the trees.
