Autumn Affection Poem by Alice Kriel

Autumn Affection

Rating: 5.0

The beauty of slow decay
and the fragrance of dust-coated roses
Brittle leaves falling to the ground
leave the slumbering tree starkly bare
There’s a dark luminescence where you lay
and you opened what usually closes
Your silence is the only sound
as I wait for the love you can spare

WOW...not sure what else to say. The message is beautifully carried through an ABCD-ABCD rhyme scheme that works wonderfully. I love it.

The images, the sensuous wording, the impeccable rhyme symmetry - a fabulous piece of writing. From 'honoured to be reading you' Gina.
