Autumn Poem by Pablo Gonzalez

Autumn

Rating: 5.0

Embers, the past in embers and the leaves full of life now withered.
Fall, when the world gets covered in a crust of caramilsed sugar and cinnamon.
Where every leaf is a flower. The last breath, the last burst of life, natures crescendo.

So why don't you, in the orange red cascade of beautiful decay. Make up your mind and move in with me. I would love to see those moving boxes lying in the livingroom for days, the floor to ceiling windows, the yard full of leaves, mountains of boxes from takeaways... and they say autumn is grey.

I feel that this time more than ever is perfect for sitting on the floor, wrap yourself up in a blanket, we are ordering in, for sure.

As you sit, with your autumn hair over your left eye, and you look over your shoulder.
The pages fall out of my calendar as we get older and older'

You lift me up, you make me feel like i'm enough.
I enjoy growing old with you, there's a charm in getting rusty... Rustic I think they call it,
there's a charm in doing our dance routine a little slower, like gnisteling iron train wheels coming in to a halt at the station.

I met you in the dark, for a second a strobe light coloured your hair and passed your iris and I saw YOU,

I left you in the dark, in a second your your pupils closed and I thanked God I had you til eighty-two.

and for all I know, and all you made me believe, this is not over so there's no need for grief.
but i'm gonna go and get some rest now, and when I wake up i'll go for a walk with Jax,
and pack your last things, and breathe in the aroma of your presence for one last day and enjoy it to the max,

and for the remaining days i'll break in this train alone, catch you on the flipside skipper,
guess I'll have to look for myself for that misplaced slipper,

God... I want to dance with you right now...

Tomorrow i'll shower over your smell with freshly brewed coffee, because that's how you would've liked it, i'll play catch with Jax, pour me up a Bourbon and let myself go.
I'll thank my parents and yours, for conceiving us, i'll toast to all your exes who let you go,

I will have a an autumn wake with all our ghosts and i'm never lonely cause you were always there when I needed you the most.
