Authorities Halting Gaze Poem by mitch king

Authorities Halting Gaze

What is this thing that stares down at me?
Are those odd eyes that glow intensively?
Like a strange shaped head on top a small tower
Yet everybody stops and observes its halting power
Just standing still against the midnight chill
Until this being withdraws his stare
All that are watching transfixed stand bare
He is an odd man ill give him that
But how did he put everyone in this hypnotic trap

What is this being on these strange lands?
Are these thy leaders?
Do these rolling men meet thy demands?
And they seem to communicate by colour of eyes
What a curious thing, I meet with surprise
And then, to my alarm the next happening brought harm
Another being came as if to disarm!
A creature strolled denying the halting red eye
And then the mad leaders crushed him like pie
His other eye was green, and this could only mean
That the following happening would be quite obscene
With a clash and smash, and bruise or two
These creatures where smashed into more than a few
What unsettling leaders I would not refuse
If he gave me a red eye, id halt with no amuse!
