Attack Of The Cream Cake Poem by Belle Wassermeister

Attack Of The Cream Cake

Rating: 4.6

Mona Lisa was attacked last week,
a matter of extreme disgrace.
She couldn't even turn the other cheek
when a man smeared cream cake on her face.

Do not fret, though, nothing
damaged the painting of the lovely lass
as it was protected there in the Louvre
with a layer of bulletproof glass.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Last week a man dressed as an old woman in a wheelchair was able to get close to the painting and then attempted to smear it with a cream cake in an apparent climate protest, but it was protected by a glass cover. Thanks to Bri Edwards for the idea for this poem.

From comedy to a sign of protest...poor cream cake. Belle, I'll be thinking about this very amusing, but thoughtful, poem at Comedy Night tomorrow.Great poem!

Nice one. Loved the manner you presented the incident and the underlying thread of humour. Enjoyed.

Belle, it is a lovely poem. But I am thinking about that old man /woman.How smudging the mystical smile of Monalisa would protect the climate? It is a ploy to get his own publicity.

I have seen her painting in the Louvre. You are right! It is so well protected and cased. No amount of cake or ice cream can smear or wipe out that mystical smile of Mona Lisa.

Hi Belle, a nice, reassuring poem. Nothing can happen to Mona Lisa's smile.
