At The End Of The Day Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

At The End Of The Day

At the end of the day,
Listening to tolerate what others say.
Done with this from them to expect,
Their wants to wish has more significance...
Than the breath to breathe,
By other human beings.
And...
To think this okay.

Wouldn't it be nice,
At the end of the day.
To prioritize a forgiving to wish,
A wanting to glue together...
Those lips of others.
Ungrateful, thoughtless and unconcerned.
With it to whisper in their ears,
Words chosen for each one to hear...
That are the most disgusting, obnoxious.
Disrespecting and mindless words heard.
And from them spoken.
To know the patience it takes...
Listening to their nonsense.
Hoping one day to witness,
Their tongues drop out of their mouths.

Without...
At the end of the day,
Praying for a way to make that possible!
And then to ask God to be forgiven,
For a guilt felt real.
But not that long before that feeling is gone!
Leaving one to wonder,
If this is also God's wish to want as well!
