Asking You to Stay

like this

i will slowly suffocate
when you become someone i miss

leaning over the

but keeping my feet on solid ground

wanting to leap into your ocean below
but i protect myself from being a casualty
-frightened to drown

afraid to slip
but wanting to
slowly

away

i'm petrified to tell you-
but every ounce of me needs you to stay

practicing for the ache
as you

further and further
from my waiting heart

i open my mouth to

but you're gone before i start

and you'll leave
see the world as it's

while i remain glued
caught in the wretched place you left me from the beginning

maybe you'll leave and keep me in your memory
maybe time will dissolve this day
i know that you need to leave
but i'm asking you to

Leaning over the edge, but keeping my feet on solid ground. Wanting to leap into your ocean below, but i protect myself from being a casualty- frightened to drown. Afraid to slip, but wanting to slowly float away.
Practicing for the ache as you drift further and further from my waiting heart.
Those are my favorite lines. You've managed to capture the feeling of being painfully cautious quite well. Also: practicing for the ache as you drift...that line is a great illustration of such a common human tendency. Thanks for shaing. (Report) Reply

Wow another really good write! I could actually feel the ache in my chest as I read this. I know what it's like to want to tell somone to stay but be to afraid to say it. (Report) Reply
