Ashes Of The Year Poem by Vikram G. Aarella

Ashes Of The Year

Rating: 3.0

Aussies trashed at lords
England is thanking the gods
Cricket will be rained with rewards
Without any thought or regards.

Not bothered about their records
Players will shine on bill boards
MBE's and OBE's is on the cards
Queen and her subjects in mutual accords

Ashes has been from decades a series of prestige and ofcourse of great interest to all countries.........We used to hear about the bodyline series and later many. In 70s Aussies and W.Indies series were of top interst. With bowlers like Lillie, Thomson, Andy Robers, Garner, Collin Craft, Marsh etc. they were neck to neck battles....... What a reminder this poem is of all those great days.........Certainly todays players are not a match to the greats of yesteryears.

Aussies went for a Tossie! At Lords the Tommies broke a 75 years record of Barren wins. May the bubble last longer for the rejuvinated MCC team!
