As Was Then Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

As Was Then

As was then

Then when I flew round
-the world and our fellows
-were censored and in jail
-we saw, read, articles
-that no one in Iran
-around us, knew of
-unless were among the
-branded: "Terrorists! "

I recall buying a magazine
-either "Times" or something
-similar in class…

Openly article was against
-the Iran's government
-so SAVAK had stopped
-that issue at border
-or had burned; except for…

Therefore I had learned what
-forever was, remained a secret
-in Iran, for nation…

I knew of Evin
-CIA helped it built…
-so Shah and Washington
-for me were, both same shit

Now I see some photos, articles
-referrals; on the site of Iran

Crazy as I am…dig to find
-the depth and origin…
-feel tickled to find out
-the parts are selected
-to match, suit governors…
-of Tehran…

"What the hell! ? " I question:
-"…by reading full and all…
-…will they too turn rebel? "
