'' As One Is Where We Belong '' Poem by Bri Mar

'' As One Is Where We Belong ''

A child is born,
It starts to breathe,
It knows nothing of what lies ahead,
Soon it learns scorn,
Then how to seethe,
By what we place in its head.

Through the learning years,
The adults rule,
What we say must be taken as truth,
Despite their fears,
If they say it's cruel,
We tell them they are being uncouth.

We say, be religious,
To a god you must pray,
We don't really give them a choice,
We claim he's prodigious,
Yet they don't have a say,
In effect, we stifle their voice.

A bigot is made,
By what they are taught,
Otherwise they just wouldn't care,
Our children are swayed,
By our nonsensical rot
From we adults they need to beware.

Being black or white,
Does not mean a thing,
To a child irrelevance is the key,
We make it a blight,
As to nonsense we cling,
We then force our kids to agree.

A racist is created,
By what they hear,
From those who live to cause strife,
What they have dictated,
In some will appear,
It will remain a part of their life.

The colour of skin,
Means nothing to a child,
Through religion we poison their mind,
What's without and within,
Should not be reviled,
We're all part of what is Humankind.

Everything they learn,
Emanates from us,
Why can't we see we are wrong?
It should cause all concern,
We should kick up a fuss,

‘' As One Is Where We Belong ‘'

Racists and the bigoted are not born that way they are bred by those who should know better, adults?
