As A Young Man He Yearned Poem by Francis Duggan

As A Young Man He Yearned

Rating: 5.0

As a young man he yearned for places elsewhere
So he went to see life in the big World out there
And the lust for the wander is in him today
In any one place his is not a long stay
He does not have children or a partner or wife
Though he has had quite a few sexual flings in his life
He has not been back to his hometown for years
But he is one who lives without nostalgic tears
In his late forties in his brown hair some grey
He is one who has known of a better physical day
The freeways and highways he has driven up and down
He has worked on building sites in many a city and town
A steel fixer by trade he earns a good pay
In any one place his is not a long stay.
