Today I lit a candle
For faithful ones who died
A time whole world does know
Armenian Genocide
Innocents young and old
For only reason killed
Because they were Christian
Evils caused their blood spill
They were raped, and murdered
Yet, still they kept faith true
‘Cause Lord Jesus they loved
Such cruel sorrows they knew
All those Armenian Martyrs
The Church calls Saints this day
They have been canonized
They’re with God for always
Let us pray that all killing stops. Wonderful tribute, Brenda. Thanks for sharing

Very well written, wonderfully thought about. This reminds me of the dastardly massacre caused by Imperial rulers, on the orders of their bosses back in Britain more than 100 years ago, exactly the same way as you describe in this poem. They have thrown infants up and held bayonets on to falling bodies o pierce through. Crimes they have committed on a poor nation like mine is highly nauseating to mention even. They now attempt to tech us about human rights. I enjoy your poem, for, I feel for hem.
