Argument Starters Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Argument Starters

People who begin,
And start arguments.
For no other reason or purpose,
But for a need to receive...
Attention to get.
Then solicit,
Others not involved.
To come and defend,
Lies to them told.
Not to know the truth.
Yet sold on a telling,
With this done to escalate...
What one person did to create.
Is how relationships,
Between family, friends, neighbors.
And business associates.
Crumble to fall and ultimately dissolve.
When those in need of attention to get,
Refuse to admit...
A problem to solve,
Involves no one else accept a psychiatrist!

"I've already had a few visits,
With a psychiatrist."

-Okay.
That's a start.
And...
Were you able to see,
The truth to discover...
What it was you really need? -

"Well...
After my last visit,
I was told I started arguments...
For no reason at all.
And I sought to seek,
Confusion and conflicts.
To have people believe,
Not only was I innocent.
But I was also made a victim.
When I refused to be ignored."

-And...
What happened then? -

"I felt appalled, insulted and offended.
That wasn't what I paid to hear.
If I am going to pay that kind of money.
I want to be told,
What it is I want to hear."

-You mean,
Like a lie!
Something you are familiar with.-
