Appolodorus Poem by Jim Boone

Appolodorus

Mount that crane and lift me
From the bondage of mediocrity
To the life only my Heavenly Father
Would bestow on a child with
Special needs, destined to do
Special deeds: Let it be written
And let it be done, on Earth.

I went to the Animal Fair
And only they were of
Interest, to me, there

The tiger bespoke of
The beauty of strength
The panther of the grace
Of darkness and its rewards
The leopard of reclining sensuality
The lion of honor among gypsies
Whose homes are on wheels
The baboon of the bondage of now.

Man-o-man mammon of tomorrow
Or is it to be the servant of lust
Maybe the scribe of a downcast tribe
The blessed son of the Highest One
Or quite possibly all four and more
Will join my path from here to eternity.

Mount that crane Appolodorus
And lift me to a better place
But always remain near and dear.
