Apathetic Reality Poem by Jane Sparkes

Apathetic Reality

That's me in the shadow, living behind a high wall
Out of the game now, no more crazy bets
I should have known that I would wake up
That you would go.
I can hear myself laughing, yet inside another scream
Which is the dream?
And what is the theme?
Taking time in droplets, tasting he memory
Set it free
or poison me
Taint each day bitterly
But savour the swell
Then fall into the waking grey
Another one of those days?
If only you stayed.
