Jane Sparkes Poems

Rolling down my cheeks the tears
Shoulders shaking, the pain sears
Burning heart with hurt and fear
Anguish reigns now you're not near.
...

I can't feel you hold me close to you
And I can't touch you the way I used to
I can't feel you calm my fears
Or wipe away my falling tears
...

If you look after me
I’ll be a good companion
I will stand in a stable and look forward to the food you bring
I will ignore my urge to wander, to roam
...

The longer I am
The more I know
The less I know
Was what I thought
...

Ground me through life's vicious fight
Be there in the darkest night
Take me when I dread I might
Be less the woman for you by sight
...

Beautiful arc across the sky
Share your mysteries as light divides
All the hues from my dreams are there
Colours that fade when light tarnishes air
...

Oh beautiful little light of mine
In each day my son you shine
You give to all so much of you
The love, curiosity and decency too
...

An empty space between us
Because of a mistake of mine
Is a gap that I now yearn to fill
With our bodies intertwined
...

Looking at me strangely,
Every time I look at you
I wonder where you go to
When I've something else to do
...

Stand alone baby
Proud and head held high
Stride purposely forward
Let them watch you walk on by.
...

Loves enough
She said to him,
Let's do it all
Together we'll be
...

The image is faded
A mist of passing time settles over memories of yesterdays in your arms.
Was it just a dream?
A cruel trick of a wandering dreamers mind, an ideal to aspire to or clouded over silver linings which never were?
...

When stillness roams the empty trees which are haunted by shadows of birds.
Inky skies with a torch light lunar finger points to reason beyond all doubt you linger upon my dreaming mind.
Touch my soul with past cliches drifting like tides through dull consciousness.
Reincarnations of loss and joy mix a noxious but heady cocktail in which to drown while rationale is at war with the idyll.

The image is faded.
A mist of passing tome settles over memories of yesterdays in arms.
Was it just a dream, a cruel trick of a wandering mind, an ideal to aspire to, clouded over silver linings which never were?
Who knows. Do you or I?

When stillness roams the empty trees which are haunted by shadows of birds. Inky skies with a torch light lunar finger points to reason beyond all doubt you linger upon my dreaming mind.
Touch my soul with past cliches drifting like tides through dull consciousness.
Reincarnations of loss and joy mix a noxious but heady cocktail in which to drown while rationale is at war with the idyll.
Cooling and singular, a shudder leaves unmistakable tension where serenity once was so falsely impressed.
...

Drenched again from emotions wasted and paths washed away by footsteps ill trodden.
Tomorrows will come come by then be past this stifling fog and the torrid weight of regret.
Wonder, full of longing no more as glistening lenses see through roads unlit into lightness. Dare to fly again, set free torn plans, scarred nerves and died loves.
To see me find in a different place the face you never expected.
...

19.

I didn't see the love go away
Didn't know it could feel that way
Now it seems I am lost anyway
In front of my eyes you have gone astray
...

See you stranger with your eyes that measure, take notes and absorb my reality.
A strange place discovered, call it middle ground or no-mans land.
Funny that where no man treads a woman is safe but unaffected, no woman wants this anonymity, this vacuum.
So onwards into new regions we wander.

Suddenly Single

Rolling down my cheeks the tears
Shoulders shaking, the pain sears
Burning heart with hurt and fear
Anguish reigns now you're not near.

All the love I feel for you,
The match, the fit, the man I thought I knew,
Still feels so real, its hard to find
A way to change my disbelieving mind

Accept that things were not that way,
The colours heightened in every shade
Just for me it was, it seems today
The dream, the mirage has turned to grey.

I've always made my way before,
Through troubles n stresses galore
My friends will reassure me once more
Ready again for what's next in store

Quirky jokes and silly sayings
Loving arms and fingers playing
Hours spent, memories making
Didn't know that u were faking
