Another Perfect Day (An Ode To Covid) Poem by Kevin Patrick

Another Perfect Day (An Ode To Covid)

It's a swell season, for homebody person
Making your home reservations
For an agoraphobics vacation
isolation can be bliss
when you have a kitchen window
that leads to a backyard standing in for Eden
plump limbs of maples teasing greens on its ankles and a choir of thrushes composing tunes on an old tin shed listening to sunshine, while nestling a cup of coffee watching television with holistic definition

Kick back and relax, take a break from the world
Knit a scarf or jumper
or pajamas for your hamster
Learn a language without race
to enhance your mental office space
Take up singing, or whistling
or advanced courses in yodeling
Breath a little while society suffocates

A simple life, doing a crossword wearing nothing more
Then a wrinkled t-shirt and battered down denim
Hunting words with the rifle of my pen
And the trigger of my thoughts
While the lightbulb of a sun
Radiates its signature in another perfect day
