Another Ode To The Goddess- - This One's For Her Ad Avatar

Lovely, dew-fresh Jasmine
By any other name, you would be
Just as pristine,
Though these days you adorn
Newspaper pages and billboards
Appearing mostly in green
Perhaps to drive away
The gathering gloom of greyness
Enveloping our rapidly aging souls.

Once a week when your ageless face flashes
That timeless smile of yours
On the page of the leading daily
Extolling the virtues of hair-oil you endorse
Your silky waterfall hair
Long and dark as the sweet-scented night
Captivates all; and the fragrance
Leaps up from the page
And hypnotises me into an endless gaze,
Your mesmerizing presence is like elixir
After six dry days of newspapery nothingness.

And when i am lucky enough
To catch sight of you on a billboard
Waxing eloquent about some washing soap
Your trilling voice like water tremolo
Rings in my ears the magic bells of heaven- -
Your radiance in the silent picture
More eloquent than a thousand speeches- -
The most mellifluous sound I've ever heard
Albeit only on silver and TV screen,
As your incontestable eyes
Carrying in them the depths
Of all the oceans of the world
Light the undying flame of prayer and worship
In me; in the blink of an eye
All my fatigue and despair are gone
And I hear the twinkle toes of your immortal
Adroit dancing feet keeping rhythm
With my heartbeats.
Goddess Supreme in such sudden streaks
Of silver lightning you come
And shine your divine light on me
Making me once more ready
For the cuts and bruises
Of life's never-ending battles.
