Animal Abuse Poem by Rita Hawkins

Why it is some people abuse their animals.
Some treat them like kids misuse their toys.
Others treat them kind, but refuse to defend other animals.
Can't you see, it does not matter whose they are,
They still have feelings and then we wonder why dogs blow a fuse.

How would you act if someone made you lose blood,
We all would snap and accuse the other of being in the wrong,
Why is it animals are in the wrong for what we would call being strong?
God made them too, and they do belong here,
Honestly, why do some cowards got to make them fear?

In Jesus' time horses would not leer away,
Just because you’re a stranger, they wouldn't act 'stray, ’
But we have caused this mental delay.
