Are We Running Late Poem by Rita Hawkins

Are We Running Late

Oh, how long shall we wait to see him,
many ask this but many do not think what if he is not late...
We just do not want to face that if he came down today....
We would not be ready, some would be cheating on their mate.

Others would be in the mist of telling a lie...
He would not like to know that he sent his son to die...
Just so we could mess up and see him cry.

So maybe we should ask...
Are we really wearing blind shades and a mask?
Are we the ones who are running late...
And he is waiting to open the gate.

He may be waiting to see if we will change our fate...
We do not know the time nor the date...
So are we running late?

Should we have changed our minds by now...
And be listening to him instead of being as stubborn as a cow...
He may be holding off on taking his final bow...
Until we notice we are late and start sticking to our vow.

And I agree. And yes He is waiting for us so He can open the gate and let us in. There is still time enough though for all the hatred, bigotry, prejudice, intolerance, and discrimination to end, and make this a wonderful world for everyone to live on. Your faith shines through every line and your questions are really valid. Yes we are late, but if we change our course now, we will be on time when He opens the gate and welcomes us with wide open arms. A very nice write with a very serious message. A 10+++++. Love & hugs, Barbara
