An Inconvenient Rapture Poem by Donal Mahoney

An Inconvenient Rapture

I'll have to ask some preacher
what if he comes
when it's inconvenient

when I'm bowling
or lifting a stein of lager
or doing my taxes

Will I have time to explain
or will his thumb go up or down
and end my game of life

Will there be a chance
for a mulligan or at least
an instant replay

I'll have to ask some preacher
what if he comes
when it's inconvenient
