An Auld Bed - Poem by GRANT FRASER

Aye wiz looking fir a bed,
ok! ,
a place ti pit the bairns,
and wi found een on the Gum
Tree, ats on-line,

I mean she found een,
Helen, aye, mi ither half,

while i sut at hame,
trying to stik ah mi
words igither,

fit's at mean - eh?
is-is, ah - too - much! ,

ye think it'd be me misell,
oot ere, in the pissin rain,
gan awa up ti this big hoose,
in Cults on a Seturdi nite,
jist to see fit there selling...

but she did dee it - fair Helen,
oh! aye!
in phoned mi up,
telt me ah the details,
between car tires sluicing
thru watter,

twinty yir al nearly,
she sez...in her best English,
'do you think it's worth it? '

ah! firget et then! ,
we'll keep looking fir anither een,

ony- y -

this is fit aye dee misell...

an the bairns
fin thi come ore,
will jist hae ti wait
a wee bit langer...

aye! aye! ok! ok! ok!
spik ti ye later, luv,
bak again ti fit I wiz deeing,
aye beds, words, policies
ti write it like it is,
aye still need ti sleep on this een...
