An Angel Asks Why? Poem by R.M. Wright

An Angel Asks Why?

On a summer day an Angel came to earth.
Azure eyes and flaxen hair, her smile brightened the darkest of days.
Blessed be those that entreated her friendship,
Blessed are those loved in her heart, touched by her warmth.

Cold days, dreary days, lonesome days have passed.
Wild-eyed, and free looking for something to fill a growing void.
This Angel gave all, her heart, her love and her soul.
Betrayed, alone, cold and distant. The love removed from her heart.

Seeking solace and comfort in those she believed in, those she had faith in.
Alone again, heart broken again. Why could not they see, her love is boundless,
Her heart yearned to be healed, her soul to be mended.
God blessed the Angel with a boy, a child she called her own.

Betrayed again, alone again, this Angel-mother and her son braved the storm.
Seeking shelter where she believed love could rest.
Where her soul and heart would mend, where love would embrace her, caress her.
Angel with Azure-eyes and flaxen-hair, asked WHY? Why? why?

Walking the world, facing the world, the stress of the world tried to break her down.
This Angel stood tall and said NO! Never! I do all for my son!
She faced the mounting darkness, the despair, the lost loves she wanted to share.
Her love diminishing, would she be alone with her son only she thought?

Azure-eyed Angel. One fateful day walked into a place. She knew not why.
Flaxen-hair Angel, whose smile could light the Milky Way.
Break down the walls that surround your heart and there you will find Me.
Stand by your side, hand to hold. Shoulder to lean on, cry on, and depend on.

Beautiful Angel believe in me.
Let me touch your heart, your soul, your love.
Let my warmth, and love embrace you as you have embraced others.
Let me walk by your side, let me touch your heart, let me brighten you darkest of days.

Azure-eyed Angel, alone you need not be.
Flaxen-hair Angel look around, can you see me?
Touch my hand and believe. You are loved and not alone.
God brought us to this place and time, our lives are entwined.

On a summer day an Angel came to earth.
Azure eyes and flaxen hair, her smile brightened the darkest of days.
Blessed be those that entreated her friendship,
Blessed are those loved in her heart, touched by her warmth.
