An Altar Of Forgiveness Poem by French Jeremiah Chintapasa

An Altar Of Forgiveness

I build an altar of forgiveness,
A shrine of love to sacrifice our rotten differences
See our present is a shrouded presence of hate untapped
Our soul, a patched cistern of pent-up bitterness
We are broken jars of clay inside a facade of iron
Words pernicious leak through our fake smiles
We bleed internally
Our conscience is bruised fatally
.
So I build this altar of forgiveness
For our grudges to sacrifice
See, vile words I said,
Devour my soul like hungry worms
Like angry birds they peck at my bones
I'm feeble inside
My knees grow weak
I can't drag any more grudges
.
Let's build this altar together
Let's mend this fence together
You and I
As brothers, as sisters who drew from one breast of love devine
We were meant to complement each other
Like tea and water
Like a steady anchor
We were meant to hold each other lest we should drift with the waves
So let's build this altar of forgiveness
For our hatred to sacrifice
