Amaru Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Amaru

Amaru

As I heard:
Once a bear
Large, huge, muscular
Sheds shadows all around
Reaches out to branch and trunk
Takes honey of the hive
Damns the bees that fly
Rigorous it claims: 'This is mine.'
Then off tree it plucks oily nut
Looking round for a way to open
It finds none.
Smashes with a rock, it's crushed
The kernel and the shell became one
Dead, useless for jungle and to bear
Life's turned waste.

Explained Andean:
'It's Spain in our land.'
Takes a sigh:
'Is greed? Is bear dumb? '
