Am I Forgotten? Poem by Darci jones

Am I Forgotten?

Am I, Forgotten?
Am I as transparent as the glass window?
Am I a little stone at the bottom of a vast sea?
The piece of old gum flicked of your fingertip?
Maybe, I am.
I feel rolled over, left in the hard snowy ground
Waiting…
for the frost of death.
My heart drops like a rock, in an unforgiving sea.
You do something amazing, only to have it punched out of you, like your fighting with a world class boxer…
and your losing.
Your grumbling and complaining fades away, like the stars, washed out by darkness.
BANG, CRASH, CRUNCH!
you stomp your feet, trying for some attention, it doesn’t work
your hopes shatter like a pop fly through a window.
Suddenly I stop caring.
Sitting lifelessly, like a light bulb with no shine.
Am I a patch of dead grass in a field of flowers?
Am I the shadow in the Corner?
Maybe, I am.
