My grandpa’s arms, wrap around me, and I am in a sanctuary
A place filled with joy.
He is as gentle as an angel.
I can see his wings.

Am I, Forgotten?
Am I as transparent as the glass window?
Am I a little stone at the bottom of a vast sea?
The piece of old gum flicked of your fingertip?

Grandpas Arms

My grandpa’s arms, wrap around me, and I am in a sanctuary
A place filled with joy.
He is as gentle as an angel.
I can see his wings.
In his arms I am cloaked with love.

My grandpa’s eyes, shine with hope and laughter.
When he cries the sun stops shining and my heart turns gray.
Everything freezes and is as still as crystal.
But then he smiles and it makes everything okay.

My grandpa’s smile brings up the sun
And everything thaws.
It’s big, brave and beautiful.
His smile can stop a war, melt a heart or stop time.
Tick, tock,
Time keeps moving slower and slower
Grandpa is at peace
Grandpa is smiling.

My grandpa’s fingers are full of magic.
They find a place on my shoulder when I’m sad.
When his hand is on mine,
The mist clears from the mountaintop,
Everyone can see again
The breathtaking beauty restored.

My Grandpa’s ears have heard everything,
From theories to love confessions
His ears take it all in.
A sponge
Then he squeezes his wisdom onto us

My Grandpa’s heart is as soft and mushy as cookies
Right out of the oven.
It’s a fireplace that’s always lit.
His weapon, he only uses for good.
He is our fairy tale prince.
His heart kept him going
It kept us going.

I can still feel my grandpa’s arms around me.
