Alpha Male Poem by Stug Jordan

Alpha Male

Rating: 5.0

He looks
my way like a bull:
a hungry animal
reminds me of his face -
his eyes are hard.

Is he going?
my fear tells me
it’s almost a shame
not to be tested
by such barbarity.

Would I know him
in another age?
where eyes can only
meet each other with
a hint of civility?

I wonder
if his voice could kill?
In a soft spasm
from that huge face:
that graveyard.

Ah! I read this in the wake of your review of The Guy I Saw, and what a contrast! I like this masculine take on your fellows. Reminds me of the scene portrayed in Good Charlotte's 'Keep Your Hands Off My Girl'. Nice one x

I was attracted to this poem by it's title, it has a rather chilling undertone to it I might add. Almost as if you are choosing to opt out of this particular group of males. Too much testosterone tends to bring the worst in these types which you've portrayed well. UL

A powerful potent piece that could only be written by a man - and yet there is a woman's sensitivity underpinning it. Excellent poem. love, Allie xxxxxxxxx

Stug, the intensity of this insight is somewhat underplayed I feel, not that it has affected the impression of a finely worded cameo. Rgds, Ivan
