Alone Today Poem by Rik Bertrand

I was alone today, walking in a park full of love.

Couples together, friends holding hands, and a dove.

I was alone today, and I felt it in my heart

The pain, the hurt, I was falling apart.



It was warm today, but I felt a chill in my body.

The sun was bleeding heat, I saw rhapsody.

It was warm today, and there was love all around

Yet, for me, a friend could not be found.



The world is strange in so many ways,

and my life is numbered with limited days.

I just felt so alone today, and I really needed a friend

but I knew that today would not be the end.



Nice, but not perfect is this life I live

Love and friendship is all I have to give.

Sometimes it hard, but I do understand,

that I am only one, and but a grain of sand.
