Alone Poem by Alex Fischer

Alone

The dark sun rises blocking out all life
In its dark home it sheds no light
No morning shall rise when darkness prevails
All human life has turned into tall tales
In the shadow of death, the unearthly beast rotates its head
Turning its body to flesh it has fed
A mighty roar comes forth from the beast
As it continues its never-ending feast

The devil opens the gates of hell
And the beast notices to no avail
The devil says to it 'Go forth bring darkness to the light,
So the dark sun may rise on this darkening night.'
'Yes my master.' The beast solemnly replies,
As it moves out to bring night to the skies
The beast shifts its mass
Rough scales cut wet grass
Stealthily it moves across the land
Bringing eternal sleep to the humans at hand

As the beast sweeps up the elderly folks
And makes all the adults choke
When it embeds fear into the hearts of children
It cries with happiness as they run in fear then
To the ones who loved them,
They shed streams of tears
Moving on devouring house after house
(And most surprising enough he's as quiet as a mouse)

He moves forward with deadly grace
Finishing off the last legs of his great race
And as he approaches the very last place
Moving forward at a very fast pace
I lay on my bed in my chambers
The beast doth steal my dangers
It comes closer to me evermore closer
I am awake thinking of the day
And how my only true love has ran away
Oh what a beautiful maiden she was
But now a beautiful witch she has become
With the beast ever closer my heart races
I hear its mighty roar
I see its ugly head, as I sit up on my bed
Looking out the window of my chamber door
The beast enters and I lay back
Trying to look dead so it does not attack
The beast notices and speaks to me
'Do not be afraid I have not come to kill thee.'
I am astounded but mostly relieved and I ask it
'Why have you come if not to kill me? '
The beast replies 'For the master says so,
I have only come to give you the rock and the stone.'
'The rock and the stone what does that mean? Surely it cannot be found in this country.'
'Yes it cannot nor in this world, it is a sign of grace that is yours and yours alone.'
The beast opened its large hands and shown me the rock and the stone
Such beautiful things they were
I opened my eyes to gaze upon these beautiful things
They remind me of all the things I have dealt with, and they even remind of that beautiful witch who was once the keeper of the key
'Take care of them' he said to me, as he placed the rock and the stone in the hands of mine eyes that shone
'For they are impossible to obtain in this land, nor can they be created by human hands.'
I held them close cherishing them vowing not to lose them
Know the rules that the beast laid down

Now in these days as I stand alone
I take out the sacred rock and the sacred stone
They remind of the beast that was not all dark
A fallen angel that's what he was, assisted by a lark
They remind of that beautiful witch
That betwixt my heart of rock, that once was filled with love, and love alone
For the sacred rock and the sacred stone
They shone, they showed, they shown me the way of lone life

Alone.
