Almost Drowning In It

If you're up to the neck in it,
up to the ears in it,
up to the nostrils in it,
and you get out of it,
you can say your escape
was narrow or beautiful.
If you get out of it yourself,
in vulgar French, you can say,
'Je me suis démerdé.'
