All About Noses Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

All About Noses

Intellectualizing life.
Like many may do.
From an assortment of books read.
To analyze every word to digest.
Often leaves those very same people,
Perceiving this done...
As their choice to choose.
Acquires to achieve for themselves wisdom.
Although...
Left they are to be,
Mentally easy to manipulate.
And distant from reality.
Seldom contemplated to appreciate.
And...
Tight lipped and fearful in public,
They appear to be.
By the ones not intimidated.
And less 'scholarly'.
To care or give notice,
As to which noses are turned up.
With eyes to cast down disapproving looks.

Ignorance to keep it.
Has little to do with the reading from books.
Especially,
When looking down upon others...
Much more diverse.
And experienced with various cultures.
Especially,
When looking down upon others...
Much more diverse and respectful,
To different beliefs to accept.
And especially,
When looking down upon others...
More observant to that which God creates.
Done to make debating extremely difficult.
As to which among God's,
Multitude of various and diverse creations...
Could anyone depict themselves to be labelled,
Favored to be better over the rest.

And...
Could and would that be a possibility.
That those with their upturned noses be chosen?
Or...
What about those with no noses at all?
To enable them to practice and rehearse,
Turning them up.
And...
For what would be the purpose?
To intellectualize the act of it?
Or analyze from a distance,
As to why anyone to another do this done.
When life to experience, explore and adventure,
Is much more than all about noses.
And impressions left to make!
