Alibi Poem by Maria Lee

Alibi

Yes we were supposed to meet
my battery was dead
she came from the theater and
shot herself in the head

she ran in front of a car
and flew
off the roof into a chain-link fence

the only clue that it was
planned that way:
she was a little too pretty

the only clue left
that it wasn't real

imagination is our curse

she came from the theater
and my battery was dead
