Ahimsa 5 - Kshama Or Forgiveness Poem by Geeta Radhakrishna Menon

Ahimsa 5 - Kshama Or Forgiveness

Rating: 5.0

Forgiveness is the noblest virtue,
For it is a priceless act of Ahimsa,
Frame of mind that gathers and unites,
Fragmented pieces of tolerance,
Forgetting the worthless pettiness,
Fine mind that rises above every barrier!

‘Kshama' is an exemplary virtue,
Proclaimed by many spiritual texts,
Practiced by few noble men,
Pointing to an act of forgiving to
Perfect self than to reform others,
Progressive mind that achieves lofty heights!

A forgiving mind that is non-violent!
A mind that refrains from anger,
A mind that refuses to hate,
A mind that remains calm,
A mind that rebels against violent thoughts and actions,
A mind that overrides the fiery currents of vengeance!

‘Kshama' is a benevolent heart
Like that of Lady Gladys Stains!
Highly praised for her magnanimity
Healing touch that saved the poor
Heart of gold that forgave the ghastly,
Hedonistic killers!

Family that knew only to love and serve,
Father Stains, beloved husband of Lady Stains,
Fine boys, their two young, innocent sons,
Feudalistic, merciless burning,
Ferociously burnt while seated in their own car,
Fatal and gruesome act of cruelty!

‘Kshama' is an act of kindness,
An act of generosity,
A compassionate attitude to forget and forgive
A magnanimous heart that knows only to give!
A benevolent mind!
A heart full of love!

Jayatissa, thank you so much for your very kind observation and your generous words and vote. Just as you appreciated the value of Kshama or forgiveness as an act of Ahimsa, if only the people of this world understood it as a virtue that should apply in their daily life, the world would be wonderful place to live in. Thanks again!
