After Thoughts Poem by John Turnipseed

After Thoughts

Long ago and far away
I knew you in a familiar way
Now we're living poles apart
Regarding matters of the heart
Lots of work, little play
Career paths in the way
Too little fun, very much sorrow
Feelings on hold until tomorrow
Angry words harshly spoken
Sacred vows bent and broken
Another day, another dollar
Empty vessels dark and hollow
Were we equal to the task
Was it worth it one might ask
Before our lives began to fray
Long ago and far away

You write beautifully well... It happens sometimes but we've got to make things work and choose what we want to keep: love, work whatever. Good one there
