After Jurassic World: The Dead Filmset Poem by Paula Glynn

After Jurassic World: The Dead Filmset

Every Jurassic Park and Jurassic World
Film in the popular franchise
A work of art: scary but a work of art
The director successful with the film work
The actors convincing with their character portrayals

The T-Rex in every one of the Jurassic World films
Cool with their predator instinct
Being all powerful and magnificent hunters
Having evolved over millions of years
Having realized modern mortal fears

And one day after a day of filming
The set designer had the fright of his life:
One of the dinosaurs was moving
He didn't - and couldn't rationally - understand:
He had thought the battery to the robotic dinosaur off

There were many battery powered dinosaurs on set:
But this raptor was moving like a daredevil as if alive
The set designer dared not mention it:
The other staff would believe him mad
Or needing more sleep

It never happened again
But he wondered if it was a sign:
Some kind of warning to anyone who killed
That there is a world beyond this one
Where sinners are punished on the set of Jurassic World

The actors - however - safe:
The dinosaurs remaining robotic and battery powered
Although convincing on camera
Their characters knowing the fear of that T-Rex
Also knowing the fear of that terrible and vicious raptor

The Jurassic films to last forever
Their images utterly terrifying
But serve as a warning to those evil:
Never do anything that hurts others on purpose
And always remember what the set designer saw.
