After All: A Ghazal Poem by Mratunjay Saxena

After All: A Ghazal

We had a dream, even if brief, after all,
beloved, what for then this grief, after all?

Have patience, dear friend, it's far from over;
book of life's read, leaf after leaf, after all!

The ones who parted shall meet again, for sure,
destiny is, a firm belief, after all!

Keeping a watch? all shall be taken one day;
change is an efficient thief, after all!

God is merciful, to some gives glory,
to others, eternal relief, after all!

Still think you can control whatever you hold?
Time is the commander in chief, after all!
