African Woman Poem by Thembi ngadlela

African Woman

hey there beautiful African woman, yes you, with the wide broad shoulders and hips..
don't u know you're beautiful from inside and out?
umnyama unomkhita, they say black is beautiful
Undiluted, yes you, you diamond in a making...

yellow boned, so they say,
caramel and vanilla so they describe... it makes you no less different from another...
yes you, you black African woman

full figured and all... you true African woman... walk with pride, unyathele ngochulumangco uzidle coz you ooze confidence...
let them say u have them big bums, or bathi upakile....ma ubheke le indlov' iyasithela....
yes you, you strong woman you...
let em nick pick you...
let them say you don't fit in, create your own space coz you are unique....
be your own woman n lead

you African woman, tall, short big and small... love the skin you're in, love yourselves... don't let them break you as we are all born unique.
