Chess
As with everything else
Having good days and bad
In Tournament Chess
We compete as friends
Not as foes
With the first move
White or Black
You set your course
Will you crash upon the rocks
Or will you reach
Safe Harbor
Soon a result will be known
As the clock is ticking
and you're short on time
chess is definitely a game played with friends and with the mind. I too am a chess player. learned the game at the age of 7. you can find me on chess.com under the name (udamankid)
Wow, Hank! You are an encyclopedia of chess information! Now I simply have to know: Who were the two guys who got draws and who was the one who managed to defeat Bobby?
Speaking of Bobby Fischer, he played in a simultaneous exhibition in Utah one year. It could have been Salt Lake City but I think it was Ogden because he stayed at Carl Thorstensen's house. Is there any way you can find out what year that was? I think it was around 1964.
Kim, Bobby played in a Simul in Ogden, UT on 8 April 1964. He played 65 boards, winning 62, drawing 2 and suffering one loss.
Very nice. Chess, the best game in the world. Win, lose, or draw, you almost always become friends with your opponent. Now you just need to add a picture of Garry Kasparov or Paul Morphy or somebody.
Yes, several names come to mind, Bobby Fischer or perhaps, our home grown Utah Grandmaster, Kayden Troff. We can discuss it further upon you return to Utah.

I used to play chess at high school, but not since then. Even so, I recognize a fine poem based on black and white, with the clock ticking.
