A Woman On Fire Poem by Ubong Essien

A Woman On Fire

A Woman on Fire

I'm a woman on fire
Do you want to see me burn
It burns in me
Deep within my soul
Right beneath my feet
All around it burns
I am a woman
A woman on fire

In the pool of comfort
On the planes of paradise
In the palaces and royal courts
On my queenly seat
I am still on fire
I am a woman
Thousands smile a moment
Courageous and daring
My face like a flint
A sombre rock that need not cry
Deep within it burns
Even at the face of comfort
I am a woman on fire

The crown on my head
The fire in my soul
Proudly being a woman
Who knows what's being a woman
Who knows a woman
A woman on fire
