The Princess's Day Poem by Ubong Essien

The Princess's Day

Sound the Kong
Play the pipe
Sound the cornet
Sing on the mountains
Planes and the valleys
It's the Princess's day

I saw the sun smiled in the morning
The rainbow bridged the sky
Birds sang their sweetest
And the trees danced in the forest
All in awe of such wonder
The joy of their princess to behold on her day

Tell it again in kingdoms
Let the media spread the news
The flowers are happy they've got a princess
The birds are thrilled with her songs they sing
Nations are glad she shall be their Queen
If everyday could just be her day
That her birthday songs would cheer men's soul
And beautiful poems would dot the sky
All hail the Princess
Now and beyond
Much thanks to her Queen mother
Who gave us the Princess
