A Winters Morn
Beside the trickling creek I sit
on this cold winter's morn
capturing every precious moment
right before the dawn
Blades of grass don icey crowns
diamond cobwebs glow all around
hedgehogs play in fallen leaves
as undergrowth, worms wriggles with ease.
The king of the skies surveys the ground
watching, listening to every sound
while kingfishers hover close to the banks
white-tailed deer majestically prance
Across the open field, a pond
where swans they gather for morning fun
with graceful elegance as they glide
waltzing together side by side
Wildlife busy living life
when most of us are tucked up tight
in our beds, all snug and warm
on this icey cold winters morn.,
hey AA, you got don right this time. [i think i corrected you in another poem] i had to check to be sure of the spelling. sure enough, it IS don. ha ha i'm loving the scenes you present, but i think where swans...typo? don't be in such a hurry! ! ! ha ha :) typo, i think: cobweBs, my friend. my favorite lines: Wildlife busy living life when most of us are tucked up tight in our beds all snug and warm on this icey cold winters morn. Wonderful poem. to MyPoemList. this morn, with a light rain, i/we saw about 10 kinds of birds near our house; it helps to put out seeds and to have a lawn and variety of plants. the last 'new species' i spied today was a hummingbird (November in coastal northern California) . it was ten feet from me on the deck, hovering, thinking perhaps: is that a BIG flower? bri :) to MyPoemList!
Nature is poetry from which we drink, another wonderful poem with smooth rhyme and rhythm...well done Annette

Really great poem, you've managed to capture so much of nature's beauty with your words. Remember to wrap up warm while enjoying winter mornings.
