A Wave Or Two Poem by Liilia Talts Morrison

A Wave Or Two

There is a bridge that I have crossed
to light and love and peace
it took a long time and much fear
before I found release

I bask in sunshine every day
yet sometimes wonder why
my loved ones on the darker side
don't want to cross nor try

They hide beneath the underbrush
of murky briars, thorns
the strangler vines are at their throats
and devils gore with horns

They will not cross no matter what
I say to beg and coax
it's not wishes or my will
that changes other folks

But this I know will comfort me
and hopefully them too
when I with friendly smile and grin
send them a wave or two

And when I come to think of it
it would not hurt a bit
to raise my hand to heaven's throne
and wave to who there sits.
