A Visit From The Past Poem by Ray Hansell

A Visit From The Past

You turned your head
And looked my way
I looked at you the same moment
I couldn't believe my eyes
You looked exactly the same
As you did twenty five years ago
That first time we met
The hair is a little more grey
A few crow's feet around your eyes
But other than that
You still look as good as you did
Way back then
When, we almost has a life together
But you went away to school
And never returned to our little town
You opted for the big city
I have to say
It seems to agree with you
Because every now and again
I see your picture or name in the paper
As you've done quiet well for yourself
It's always nice to see someone from the past
Especially one so beautiful
The one whose love I though would last
