A Tough Question To Ponder Poem by Francis Duggan

A Tough Question To Ponder

What's life about at all one must wonder why
A tough question to ponder none ought to deny
No matter how materially wealthy and famous you are you eventually must die
The same for the celebrity as for you and i
This need that your genes will live on in your children to the ego is tied
And the ego it does seem is never satisfied
Most people love it when others their praises do sing
To love to be liked is an egotistical thing
Many people believe in their god's paradise in the sky
Where if they live a good life post bodily death to with wings their souls to will fly
Of a life for the soul post bodily death or of a heaven or a hell
Any deceased person as of yet has not come back to tell
To the scythe of Life's Reaper we eventually must fall
One does have to wonder about the meaning of our existence at all.
