A Thousand Words
A picture says a thousand words, a poet but a few
Not everything we see or hear, is absolutely true!
Iv'e seen pictures that’s been doctored, and lies will people tell
But a poets words come from the heart, nay! from his inner shell!
I've seen pictures of far off galaxies, and the dark side of the moon
I've heard cretin's words spoken, that have made me swoon
I've seen dinosaurs feeding on the screen, along with tyrannosaurus rex
But never have I seen a poets untruths, written here in text
A painting may go down in history, as well a maiden speech
But a great poem, is the epitome we poets aspire to reach
true and good words, bob...those two first lines give a rousing start to the poem...succeeding lines maintain the tempo and pace till the end...enjoyed a lot
Oh MY.. so much truth in this little ditty.. I loved the the timin' and pace of this one.. it was dead on.. Truth be told, that words of few Hand written from thine heart Can open up Pandora's box And tear a picture apart For those of us, of gifted hand Draw our lives out in prose Pictureless formations dance As the art more simply grows Thanks for this Bob *smiles* Wendy

Very well constructed and with each flow each stanza is better than the one before it..... Yes I think I have to agree with you on this, other wise we would not have Emily Dickinson, Sara Teasdale. ect... on and on, as each of them come from within as with most of us....... This is beautfiul, full of wisdom, and so excellently written. I like the pace, flow, texture, rhyme, meter, rhythm, and message. Perfect and meaty.10++++
Well this is a verse full of the real aspirations of a poet Bob; and it flows along with statements which no-one can deny.... poetry has been the means whereby the heart can be exposed on paper and will always be the great influence in any future time too- - with a few words the good poet can build up or knock down and therefore has a wonderful opportunity to reach the reader's mind....... a really first rate verse....... Fay.
