A Thought While Driving Poem by Randy McClave

A Thought While Driving

On the road I am driving
The rules of the road I am abiding,
I am going from point "A" to point "B"
I am trying to reach my destination, safely.
Now I take a quick right, right then a curve
Then a pot hole, pot hole and a swerve,
I am driving safely on the highway
As I am trying to have a safe getaway.
Up ahead in his car I now see my preacher
Who is also my spiritual teacher,
A car accidentally crosses the yellow line
My preacher is now talking in tongues and speaking sign.
Behind the parsons vehicle and not that far
I now see his wife driving her car,
She's fumbling around with the churches key
She slows down just a little, to take a selfie.
Now nurses and doctors they pass me by
Along with E.M.T's and public servants on the the spry,
They all pass me speeding, and maneuvering in stealth
Wonderingly they are the givers and saviors of our safety and health.
I drive the speed limit the best that I can
But, I am still cursed by other drivers, woman and man,
I now know that if I'm in a car wreck and I lay dead
My preacher and the rescue workers, are just a few miles ahead.
